Using Tennyson's beautiful words from the poem 'Maud', of romantic devotion and painful longing. Our hero waits in the dark outside a party with the scents of the summer flowers in the air, hoping his love, Maud, will finally leave the party and join him in the garden.

It builds nicely if you have harmonies 3 and 4 come in with 'ooh' first on those same notes, and sing the melody over the top onthe repeat. Next add harmony 2 and bring the words into 3 and 4, and finally, add harmony 5 weaving over the top. Enjoy!

The rose was awake all night for your sake,

The rose was awake all night for your sake.

The red rose cries, 'she is near, she is near;'

The white rose weeps, 'she is late.'

The larkspur listens, 'I hear, I hear;'

And the lily whispers, 'I wait.'

Come into the garden, Maud,

Come into the garden.
